Meet Erica Jones

"I started Sunshine Spaces as a way for our family to give hope to those that need it the most and to teach our children how look out at the world and see how they can help, rather than taking from it and to show God's love in a practical way - things that are hard to teach children in today's world, where everything is about "me".

We cannot imagine what it is like for these families to go through the ordeal of having a child diagnosed with a terminal or life-threatening illness and the extensive pressure it places on a family. If our organization can bring just a bit of sunshine to these families, then we will keep making a difference, one room at a time.

                                                                                                   - Erica Jones, Founder

Erica was born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa and came to the United Stated in 1999, wanting to give her children a better life. The perspective of growing up in a third world country has always made Erica want to make a difference in the lives of others. No stranger to the devastating effects of cancer, their family has a deep love for those in the fight. Erica's creative gift and her love for people makes her a fearless spokesperson for this cause. Her passion for making the lives of these children, that much brighter is the driving force behind Sunshine Spaces.

Erica's husband, Joshua Jones retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in July 2015. He and Erica have been married 8 years and together they have six children as a blended family. Joshua's extensive background in Project Management coupled with his carpentry skills have always allowed him to bring Erica's creative dreams to life in each home they have lived in as the Marine Corps have moved them around the country.

Joshua and Erica have a wonderful team of directors, advisors and partners that make this organization effective. Sunshine Spaces has IRS 501(c)(3) approved status and look forward to helping many more families in 2018 and the years to come.   To read more about our team, please see "Board of Directors" link and our partnership page.
